These images were exhibited at the Mennonite Heritage Center Gallery in Winnipeg, March 11-April 30, 2011. They were obtained during the last decade between the foothills of Alberta and Southern Manitoba. Exact locations haven’t seemed too important since the images are fairly abstract and meant to elicit feelings. They have emerged from a prairie boyhood and an abiding fascination with the subtle forms and colours of plains landscapes. I have compared change over time in settlement and agriculture within the plains of North America and other analogous parts of the world, which resulted in numerous slides for teaching and publication. The images in this collection are different, they represent a poetic relief from academic exposition.
